In several discussions, this consultative leadership style becomes an inseparable part of the participatory leadership style. Because the participatory leadership style requires an active role from subordinates to support superiors.
The involvement of subordinates in this case is very large in the decision-making process to whatever is determined by the superior. However, the application of this consultative leadership style is more for superiors who ask for subordinates' opinions on decisions to be taken.
If in a democratic leadership style the role of subordinates becomes very important because they have the same degree as superiors in making decisions. While in this consultative leadership style, the role of subordinates also remains quite large, but its nature is only to be a consultant to superiors.
In other words, superiors will always consult or discuss with subordinates but the absolute right to make decisions is still in their hands.
